FAQ
What is a microhotel?
A microhotel is a hotel designed around efficient, thoughtfully planned rooms that focus on what matters most to today’s traveler: comfort, location, and value. Instead of oversized rooms with unused space, microhotels prioritize smart layouts, quality finishes, and well designed shared areas.
At Hotel Hive, microhotel rooms are compact but intentional. Every square foot serves a purpose, creating a comfortable stay without excess.
How is a microhotel different from a traditional hotel?
Traditional hotels often dedicate a lot of space to features many guests rarely use. A microhotel rethinks that model by offering smaller guest rooms paired with inviting common spaces.
The result is a streamlined experience that feels modern, efficient, and more affordable, especially in high demand urban locations like Washington, DC.
Are microhotel rooms comfortable?
Yes. Comfort is the foundation of a well designed microhotel. At Hotel Hive, rooms feature comfortable beds, private bathrooms, strong WiFi, and soundproofing, all in a layout designed to feel calm and functional.
Smaller does not mean cramped. It means intentional.
Who is a microhotel best for?
Microhotels are ideal for travelers who value location, efficiency, and smart design. That includes business travelers, solo travelers, couples, and anyone who plans to spend their time exploring the city rather than sitting in their room.
If you want a great night’s sleep, a central location, and a modern experience without paying for unused space, a microhotel is a strong fit.
Why choose a microhotel in Washington, DC?
In a walkable, fast paced city like Washington, DC, location matters more than room size. A microhotel allows you to stay in the heart of the city while keeping rates approachable.
Hotel Hive puts guests steps from major attractions, dining, and public transit, with everything you need and nothing you don’t.
Is a microhotel the same as a capsule hotel?
No. Capsule hotels typically offer sleeping pods with shared bathrooms and minimal privacy. A microhotel offers private rooms and bathrooms, along with hotel level amenities, just in a more efficient footprint.
Hotel Hive combines privacy, comfort, and modern design in a way capsule hotels do not.
Due to our micro size, we are unable to accommodate bikes on property. We offer bike locks for street racks or complimentary bike parking at Columbia Plaza Parking across the street.
